What is AI visibility (GEO)?
AI visibility, also called GEO or generative engine optimisation, is whether and how your brand appears in the answers that AI engines such as ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini and Claude give. It covers three signals: whether the engine mentions your brand, whether it cites your site as a source, and where you rank among the options it recommends.
How is AI visibility different from SEO?
SEO measures how you rank in traditional search results on Google and Bing. AI visibility measures how you appear inside the natural-language answers that LLMs generate. The two overlap — clean structured data, clear entity signals and substantive content help both — but you can rank well in search and still be invisible to AI engines, and vice versa.
